ALL
THE NEWS FOR JUNE 2008
|
| Is it the end of the year already? Where has the time gone? The
school year has just flown by and the kids and staff are gearing
up for what we know will be a fun and exciting summer! |
 |
As we draw to a close, we would like to thank all of you for your
support of our program and for the opportunity to be a part of your
children’s lives. It has been a wonderful year! We will surely
miss all the children who are graduating and/or moving on to new schools.
The end of the school year is a busy time for everyone, so take a minute
to mark your calendars with the following dates to remember:
June 4: BIG K GRADUATION!!! NORBECK CLOSED ALL DAY.
Graduates should arrive at 12:30 p.m. in the lower level of the church
classroom. Invited guests may find a seat in the sanctuary. Graduation
will begin at 2:00 p.m.
June 12: THURSDAY - LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!! Norbeck
closes at
6:00 p.m.
June 16: First day of our summer program!!!! Spaces are still
available so get your applications in soon!
August 14: THURSDAY – LAST DAY OF SUMMER
PROGRAM
Can you believe that summer is right around the corner? We can’t
wait to begin our summer program and welcome back some old familiar
faces. How could we forget Sara, Kristen and Kellie? All of these people
will be back for the summer fun along with some of the wonderful staff
that has been with us throughout the year and some new faces too!
Speaking of summer . . . don’t forget to send your child to school
with sunscreen on everyday! The Maryland Health Department prevents
us from applying sunscreen to the children throughout the day. Also,
please make sure the bottle does not accidentally end up in your child’s
backpack. We wouldn’t want another child to get a hold of it unintentionally!
Please be on the lookout for the Norbeck Summer Program t-shirt. If
you have registered for camp, your child’s shirt will be sent
home during the first week of camp!
As you know, the sun is a major factor in determining whether or not
we take the children outside. However, it is not the only factor. We
have many children, and staff, who suffer from bad allergies. If the
pollen count is very high for the day we may make the decision to keep
the children inside to prevent breathing problems for those who suffer.
We also pay attention to the ozone air quality forecast. If it is code
red or higher we will keep the children inside as well.
For those days that we are outside, we always make sure the children
have water readily available to them. Not only does every classroom
have a bottled water cooler, but we also take a portable cooler out
to the playground filled with bottled water as well! The kids know,
but you may want to help us by reminding them, that they are free to
get a drink whenever they wish!!!
Just a note: we do seem to have many jackets that have not been claimed.
Take a look at the coat rack by the office and see if one of your jackets
has found a new home here instead of in your closet at home!
A LOOK AHEAD TO FALL 2008
You will receive more information for the year over the summer (we
know you can’t wait and will be eagerly checking your mailbox
everyday!) Until then, just remember that the first day of school is
August 26th . This is the day for you to “Get Acquainted”
with your child’s teacher and classroom. The NEW children should
come from 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m and returning students should
come from 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Remember, this is just a “Get
Acquainted” day. The first full day of school will be August 27th.
See you then!!!!!
As we say goodbye for the year, we would like to remind you that someone
is always in the office to help you. Although the door may be closed,
feel free to walk in any time you want. The door is closed not to keep
you out, but to keep the noise to a minimum!!! We would love to see
you anytime!
Have a wonderful summer. We will see you next year!
